STIM27 Coconut Stimulant Trial Results - Sep-24 to Nov-24

In September 2024, STIM27 was applied as a single treatment to 16 adult Malaysian Dwarf Coconut palms. By November 2024, 15 of these palms showed positive signs of regeneration, with new leaves, emerging inflorescences, and no signs of nut drop or scarring from coconut mites. One palm showed signs of emerging leaves but no inflorescence.

SaferShield Witches' Broom Trial Results - Sep-25 to Dec-24

From August 2023 to December 2024, two performance trials were conducted in Trinidad and Tobago to evaluate SaferShield, a cost-effective, two-phase treatment designed to combat major cocoa fungal diseases: Witches' Broom, Black Pod, Frosty Pod, and Vascular Streak Dieback. The trials took place on a 6-acre plot in Rancho Quemado and a 5-acre plot in Erin that were both infected with Witches' Broom and nearby plots where the disease was uncontrolled.

STIM27 Stimulant Trials

STIM27 Objectives:

Our primary goal is to validate a solution capable of eliminating both the nefarious beetle larvae and the red ring nematodes that attack coconut and other large palm trees—targeting both adults and juveniles. Additionally, integrated within this same solution, we aim to verify that the affected trees can be restored to some level of production.

We aim to conduct trials in Barbados, Thailand and Trinidad and Tobago. You can track their progress here: stim27.sgd.gold

STIM 31 Vapour Cloud Trials

 STIM31 Objectives:

Our primary goal is to validate a solution capable of deterring damaging beetles from laying eggs within the crowns of coconut and other large palm trees. This solution is intended to be used as an emergency measure when damaging beetles are first detected or to provide long-term protection for individual palms, as desired.

We aim to conduct trials in Barbados, Thailand and Trinidad and Tobago. You can track their progress here: stim27.sgd.gold

What is SaferShield

SaferShield is a technique developed by SaferGardens to control pests and pathogens (i.e., maintain their populations at manageable levels) by actively suppressing them to low, acceptable levels and then using biological methods, primarily entomopathogenic bacteria or fungi, to sustain control.

What is the STIM27 Coconut Stimulant?

We developed STIM27 as a tool for coconut rehabilitation. Its primary function is to re-establish nutrient circulation within the palm via a single treatment applied to the crown, rejuvenating the palm to produce new leaves and roots, improve nut set, and increase nut size. This makes it effective for quickly restoring aged, nutrient-deficient, or infected palms to a productive state. In addition to nutrients, STIM27 releases systemic-acting extracts designed to target red-ring, nematodes, coconut beetles, and Lethal Yellowing disease, which feed on the sap of plant tissue.

STIM27 Stimulant was developed using our Arrest, Suppress, and Control Design Protocol, which breaks down the treatment response into three distinct phases, each with specific products, procedures, and functions:

ARREST Phase: Immediately halts damage caused by pests or pathogens in the treatment zone.

SUPPRESS Phase: Actively reduces the population of pests or pathogens in the treatment area.

CONTROL Phase: Maintains pest or pathogen levels at or below suppressed thresholds, minimizing the need for frequent intervention.

The resulting STIM27 specifications are fit for purpose for use in the ARREST Phase. With a single treatment, it uses systemic-acting plant extracts and salts to target sap- or tissue-feeding pests, including phloem-active species, effectively halting the damage caused by red-ring nematodes, coconut beetles, and Lethal Yellowing disease. Additionally, STIM27 kick-starts the rejuvenation process, allowing growers to have productive palms within 4 months after treatment.
